India is a country rich in tradition and an ancient Vedic heritage. The Vedas are the scriptures that describe the way of life  to be followed in order to uphold Dharma. They also contain the supreme knowledge of the self. The Vedic sciences are subtle sciences pertaining to every aspect of creation. It is very essential to preserve and continue the practice of this ancient knowledge. The heritage school does just this.

This school is home to more than 70 young students. They stay in the hostels provided and receive traditional Vedic education. This knowledge is also complimented by modern elementary education in the regular school.

These young pundits learn from the various scriptures and also to perform many poojas. According to  the ancient tradition of the Gurukula, they learn from the master by repeated chanting of the ancient verses in order to commit them to memory. The metre, speed, intonation and accuracy of pronunciation are all vital in the chanting of these verses.

Hailing from all over rural Karnataka, these young students find in the heritage school a  promising  prospect for continuing their  traditional ways. These children reside on campus and receive medical facilities, clothes and all amenities free of cost.   They are also provided with scholarships to encourage them to pursue their studies further. They have a six year curriculum and corresponding exams which certify them as pundits qualified to conduct the different poojas and homas .
