Long back in 1981, when His Holiness Sri Sri Ravishankar saw the construction workers’ children playing in sand, mud and cement. He felt compassion towards them and wanted to do something to improve the quality of their lives. The parents of these children however, did not want to even part with them. So a small centre with a few aayas and one teacher was started . In the beginning, the parents had to be coaxed into sending their children over there. Being illiterate and poor, they themselves had no idea of how much better their lives could be .

The children were literally cleaned , bathed and clothed only in the school and slowly they were taught the basic hygiene. They were fed in the afternoons , toys and games were bought for them. In this way they got used to the idea of coming to school. Slowly the literary campaign also began and their first formal education started taking shape.

His Holiness Sri Sri Ravishankars' father fondly called as pitaji,is a continuous source of inspiration towards this project and His Holiness Sri Sri Ravishankar is the guiding beacon of light.

This vision has been well supported by his immediate family & by his world family. Strong volunteers from every nook & corner have been helping with their time or through monetary support to make a difference .It has been well rewarded when we see our annual report.

We are proud to be associated in the humanitarian cause of educating these children and bringing about a lasting impact in their social, economical and emotional dimensions.

We need to educate more and more such children and also provide them with value-based and job-oriented programs to give them sustainable and continuously progressive strata in life.
